Geeky Moms

 Come and meet Meena, 27years old, living in Bontehuewel.  Meena or 'Me' as her mother calls her, is a bubbly lady.  She grew up in the area, despite all the gang violence, with her parents and her younger sister.  She attended Trafalgar high school, which is not in the area, as her mother felt that she needed to school outside of the area. One of her first memories of the issues in Bonteheuwel occured when she was eight years old, coming home from school then a car came by and started shooting.  As the shots rang out, she was able to hid in a neighbours front garden. Life for her, just like most other young people in the Cape flats, centered alot around family and family interactions and relationships.  Meena recalls one of her fondest memories was when her grandmother turned 70 years old.  Coming from a large extended family, they all gathered and had a beautiful birthday party, celebrating her grandmother and her life.  Her  grandmother...

Meeting with a lady by the name of Sherna and discussing about our experiences in life. Sherna says her life was basically just for herself and not realizing that there is life on the outside. She said that on her way to class this morning she experienced a hurdle where her shoe broke and she told herself what is happening was this fear creeping in but she did not allow for it to interfere with her being here which made her feel that she has overcome her fear of the unknown. I would like to encourage her with a biblical verse:J

hello... Today we were at our last class of geeky moms and had to interview ladies from start-up moms class. I was one of 3 ladies that did the just that... We interviewed Fieka a 19 year old from Parkwood. She left school in grade 10 due to crime and drugs at school. And then joined Rlabs with the advise from her Mualimah. She's looking all excited and happy to be here. She comes from a nice big family 6 brothers and 2 sisters of which she's second eldest.  Family live together and granny too. Her talks about her memories of going to the beach with her Mom's brother regularly and sadly he passed away.

 I interviewed a lady who started of being very shy. Myself being bubbly...we needed to start somewhere. Started off with her name...and so on. Her name is Sonya and she is a Hair stylist. She is staying for years in the Athlone area. She now feels to relocate and to take her career to a different level. She matriculated many yrs ago and went to go study at a college as a hair stylist. The reason why she want to relocate is because of crime and to give her children a better future. She had a few rocking yrs...but finding her feet...thanks the Almighty. Taking her career to a different she would like be become a lecturer and that is where Rlabs is coming in. Coming to Rlabs was to empower herself and to make a difference. Nawaal Rex is a young women form Kewtown .She likes to sit at the beach and listen to the sound of the wave .She says it calms her. Her favourite colours is maroon and green.She motiveds her self.Her personal goal is to open her own school .Nawaal best memory was when she was at boarding school.She is the oldest of four children.Her biggest fear is drowning .Her told her about Rlabs.Nawaal like to be haafith someday.That means she would like to know the Koran.She is very lazy and like to sleep.

Eleanor Andrews is a working woman who lives in Bridegtown who is lovingly called Elie by nickname,she has joined Rlabs today for the first time,she heard about Rlabs by word of mouth from her sister who incidentally is studying Geekymoms to empower herself and for employment She has a fear of deep water and would like to overcome it by swimming in there for relaxing she likes to read and watch T.V.

Why choose Rlabs? I thought this is like a normal college to study further. Its her first time here,she likes the atmosphere,and would to further her education. She only finished Grade 10,reason being; School became too dangerous,and she didn't like it there. What good things you remember? About her uncle taking her to the beach always,sadly he died. She lives with her parents,they quiet people What i like to overcome Had a fight with moms sister,didn't really forget,but wants a better relationship with her Relax, Listening to music Motivation Family life,siblings make her happy. Big family; 6 brothers ,2 sisters. Goals: Wanted to become a doctor,to heal people Her granny staying with them,so she always help where she can. Motivation; Always surround yourself with positive people. .

I met a lady who  has come to  a realisation she is a capable woman  who can take the lead. She is a can do it for herself . Her past choices has slowed her down  but her wisdom has given her  a better understand  she is a ing of herself. G I know she  has more confidence in herself. She is survivor.She likes to relax with a book to refresh herself. For now she has focus on her daughter Gabrielle caring for her .She has decided to learn to drive a car and will succeed.

I met a lovely lady,named Sonya today at Start up Moms.Wow she was so passion about hair,Never new that I could learn so must about hair . First let me give a little background history of this beautiful and vibrate lady.She stays in Athlone most of her life .She has two beautiful girls age 17 and 9 years old.She works at a hairdresser in Thorntorn Road.She loves reading ,walking and listen to music.What keeps her motivated is her girls She has her own clientele and sometimes she mentioned that clients just comes in to chat. She needs a change and want to relocate.Her ideal place is the west coast Langebaan ,The reason for the change is Athlone has become to fast and dangerous and she needs to think about her girls future. She heard about Rlabs from a friend and is  busy with the second semester, Amazing .Her trip down memory lane was rocky but since she started with Rlabs she has grown alot.She all ready send her CV to the west coast.Her future goals is to be a lecturer in ha...

we met with Eleanor  Andrews and wow what a lady full of life and wants to achieve much  eleanor has a nickname elie and lives in Bridgetown she was encouraged through her sister to join up with RLABS she wants to empower herself she has a fear of swimming its actually a challenge which she would like to overcome she enjoys reading and watching TV her daughter keeps her motivated and she has personal goal when retired she would like to do aftercare program. :)  😃

On the 7of October 2017 i met a woman Samantha knight(SAM) Sam is from upper town (BOKAAP) she choose Rlabs because its affordable,and  its breath of breath of fresh air,inspiring,many challengers good and bad Sam learns from her choices bad and good .Sam is a very motivational woman she does counseling  as well .Her children is her motivation ,and would love to over come her fear is  to love and to believe in herself and writing her own script.To relax Sam love to cooks.her personal goal is to make her book into a movie Sam   busy writting a book  

Sherna Firmstone is a very shy person ,children are married with all there own lifes .she tell herself i .,must make change in my life. Registerd herself at RLABS to past time this morning on her way to class her shoe broke having second thought a sign not to go i'm not a quiter she tell herself walk barefeet until she reach her sister house to get a pair of shoes lucky we are the same size i'm here this morning with the welcome i got i know that i made the right decision looking forward to next week .

Hi,today I met  Mina Moosa.A 27  year old young lady that lives in Bonteheuvel.A woman that has had to come face to face at an young age with violence and gangsterism in her community.And because of this her childhood has been spend basically cooped up in the home.But her parents wanted something better for her and has decided to make things better for her by enrolling her for highschool at Trafalgar High.
