Good afternoon world on a lighter note,on wednesday we took our seniors around the peninsula. Our first stop was Sea Point opposite the SABC offices. Where our seniors enjoyed a snack.thereafter we went to Hout Bay where they stretched a bit. Some of our seniors interacted with the coons. Our aunty Ellen,Vicky Jonck and Freda Davids enjoyed dancing with the coons. We then went back to Maidens Cove where we served them lunch. After lunch we served them fruit and some doughnuts and juice. We then boarded the busses at 3.05 and was taken on the beach road for some more sightseeing.when we got back to the centre, our seniors were all handed a gift before they went to their respective homes. What an awesome experience.

Seniors outing

It was on Wednesday that we as Impact Direct Ministries took 110 senior citizen on an outing. It was the last Wednesday for our Wellness programme. We hired two comfortable buses that drove us all the way around the coast. Our first stop was for breakfast at Sea Point, each senior receive a bag with their breakfast. It was a beautiful day nice breeze and the fresh air did our moms and dads good. they had nice fresh juice and a healthy snack. Our next stop was Hout Bay we did some sight seeing and enjoyed the music that was provided by the Cape Coons. We had nice fun when our seniors did a few dancing moves. The driver then drove to Maiden's Cove for lunch. Everyone was happy we could see the appreciation on their faces. When we arrive back at the Impact Centre everyone received a gift. Mrs Murtz thanked the staff and volunteer and asked aunty Anne Donough to accomplish her in singing a song. The staff and volunteers really made our seniors day the were spoiled.

IMPACT SENIORS BUS TRIP

On Wednesday , the 25 th November, we the volunteer workers took our seniors from the Impact Ministries Club and the people from the community whose feet we do, on a bus trip. We hired two double Decker buses from Inter Cape. Those buses were a great help with our moms and dads, especially those who are on medication. there were about 110 seniors and the workers were about 15. we left the centre about 9.30 and our first stop was in Sea Point where we had breakfast. From there we went on to Maiden's Cove, where we stayed and had lunch. The weather was nice and warm, but a bit overcast. Everybody was so laid back and relaxed, just enjoying the moment of not being at home and having to care for their grand kids and the housework. There was lots of fun and laughter going on. After everything was done, the eating, fun and laughter, we started packing up and headed back back to the Impact Centre. At the centre, we gave each senior a gift to take home. They were qui

The Impact of Direct Ministering

This day...February 2oo5,sitting alone and all forlorn at my window...wondering,scheming and gazing at nothingness,.. What,s out there, that could restore the emptiness, that has claimed my very being?.Mind still very active and utterly, completely sane.. but everything to me, so invain,What to do with all that,s still within? Many questions and answers, yet none being comprehendible. The three months, prior to it all, having been on crutches, waiting for a fused leg to heal, left my soul more empty and in turmoil..Lord! I knew You then but You seemed so very faroff for me. A constant voice,so very audible within, kept trying to claim recognition. it seemed, as my pityparty thoughts were overwhelming me...Disabled for life.. were too much to bear. Widowed, unemployed,a child at school. What is to becom

WHY NOT WAIT?...TIME!

The most eery thought just crossed my mind,in such a way that cold shivers enveloped me.Are we, the human race responsible for the express train of time, going fullsteam ahead into the future? Yes time waits for no man but the reality of it truely boggels my mind.It is biblical described, that the tongue, which has the softest bone in the body has the most lethal affect on our lives..Scary!! We are accountable for what we speak into the universe...casting your bread on the water.Ok! we are all aware of this but what struck me as so uncanny is, how many times in our lives have we wished the time away ie oh!I wish it was Friday, wish God will come through for us TODAY, wish this wish that. Also, if only it was morning,if only they were still here etc. These are wishfull thinking, of which the whole human race stands accuse of... even we

Community care

The Bible says " if you have done it to the lest of these you have done it to me" Jesus wants us to take care of our community. It is not always easy to do God's will but He give us the the strength and ability to do so. Our community needs positive role models and as a ministry see this we work among our people. We do counselling and life skills in schools and also do aftercare with the kids. The kids love our cooking we later found out why, some of the kids don't have any food at home. When we heard of their need we started to do extra cooking, we now feed their families. We are planning to have a nice end of the year outing, we want to spoil them and give the a little gift. The volunteers are very passionate about what they do they are always available when needed. We also work with senior citizen, we love them to bits, they are wonderful to be with. We do a wellness programme, they love the pampering. We do pedicure, manicure, facials and wash their hair. Its ve

Women of strength

I had an exciting week or should I rather say blessed. Social Development Athlone District requested our ladies to do a wellness programme. By the way I am part of the Impact Direct Ministries wellness team. We did the decor and the catering it was good to see how much talent came out. Everything was done very professionally lots of creativity and skillfully. A group of young mothers were the geusts they brought along their mentors. These young ladies were part of a programme run by the Department to equip and empower. They come from a disatvantage area "Pooks Bush" and informal settlement. They have problems with their children and other social problems. We gave back massages, facials, pedicures and manicures. They just enjoyed every bit of pampering Lunch was great very healthy though we promote a healthy lifestyle. Doctor Kate from the UK gave a health talk there was a question and answer session. At the end of the day every lady went home with a gift bag and lots of informa

Menopause and breast self-examination

Today was a very busy day for all the mom's at the Impact Centre. We mom's had a session with Dr Kate Walton. The talk was on menopause and breast self examination. With menopause, you can get heart palputations , tender breast, vaginal dryness, bodily pain heavy sweating, sleeplessness, dry hair, hair falling out, weight gain. There are many more that one can link to menopause. It affects mostly women of age 40 - 50 years of age. We need to see a Dr so that they can check to see if you need to go on any hormone medication. For the self breast examination, we as women need to examen ourselves at least once a month to check for any lumps. We also need to find out how often we need to go for mammograms. That is very important. I believe we need to have it done at least once a year.

THROUGH IT ALL

It feels so strange to be doing this ie creating a blog from the core of me.Thoughts come tumbling but nothing noted as somehow, something is sure amiss.A long spell of drought, of two months has passed. So where was I during all of this?. Ok there was a time of pain and barenness but how could I have allowed my soul to sink so low? Yes real rock bottom as they say, floating somewhere far and inbetween yet nowhere to be seen. No questions asked, no answers needed.was this my way of mourning a loss. How did I get thisfar?, Who carried me, for on my own...mind,spirit and soul was so blue or was it just emotions overriding me. Step by step you tested me,guiding, coding along lukewarm, warm and hot embers too.Someone directed...along the way .On my knees,no streng
