My Journey with R Labs

MY journey with R Labs is one of tremendous joy to me I was introduced to R Labs via a friend, she mentioned the Computer Course, and me not being very techno savvy decided to check it out. The class was fully booked so  I took whatever was available, and that was Entrepreneurship, I was completely blown away by how the Facilitator, Nathaniel, presented the class,it was way too short, but that made me hungry for more. I then enrolled for the Personal Finance course, again I was not disappointed by Sharron Roberts our Facilitator , explaining things on our level, alas the class was way too short as well WhenSuzanne said she will teach us emails, I thought, but I can do emails , was I not pleasantly surprised to see all the things you can do , not just send off letters to someone, but also how to do it properly. The class always has a vibrant vibe , and everybody wants the class extended. Geeky Moms is just what I needed, yes I can email, but did not know I can do so many t

I was born into a God fearing family, I am one of five siblings. We were a normal happy and loving family where strong morals and values  were executed. Dad's work often called him away from home for long periods and mom had to fill that vacuum. Sometimes things were not easy for her especially when it came to choices and decision making coupled with a mother's responsibilities. She would often express her emotions and thoughts to us substantiating with reasons. She always hoped and prayed that we would have spouses that would be there daily. In our teen years dad changed job so that he would not loose out on quality family time. During this time and being at an age where we could ask questions he would discuss life as he knows it. This because he had widely traveled High School then university together with community work followed until I got married and had two kids of my own. Prompted by my husband to exercise life long learning I registered with RLabs. Excited about en

Bits of Me

Hi everyone I'm Felicia and I come from Hanover Park. Generally known as an unsafe or gang-ridden community. Growing up in places like these do not always have to have a negative impact on a person's life. After completing my matric I was practically coerced into working in the retail industry. I spent 12 years working for one of South Africas biggest retail companies and I actually enjoyed it. After my journey in the industry had ended I spent time at home raising my daughter whom at the time had just started her schooling career. It became quite boring at home at times so I started doing things to keep myself busy. I started off with driving lessons and man was that a good feeling. It wasn't even as tough as I have imagined it would be. When I eventually was able to drive and got my drivers license, man oh man what a great feeling. It was liberating and a sense of freedom at the same time. This encouraged me to challenge myself even further. I started in my kitchen with

For my baby chocolate (Gabrielle)

My name is Sherri-Lynn Michael and I am 37 years old. I am not married and I have a 22 month old daughter. Her name is Gabrielle. This blog post is just about my dreams and aspirations for the future for myself and my daughter. I have done a post like this a few years ago but time got away from me and here I am again with the same hopes and dreams. The only difference this time is that I am going to make it happen. The first point of order is to learn to drive. That is top of my list of priorities. Next is to get a new job and that pays more and does not require overtime. I would like to give my daughter all the opportunities and support everything that she would like to do. And ofcourse to give her a good education. While all this is happening I will be getting myself a car. As far as work is concerned I will be continuing my journey with Rlabs to learn more skills. My next course will be computers and Office Management. That will be a foot in the door for a new job. I am so

The Impact made by Rlabs Geeky moms class 2018

My name is Loretta Thyssen , I am 51 years of age . I  have a daughter who got married  Jan 2018  into the moslem religion. I am a rep for Meteor lighting in Maitland for 5 years. It was 5 weeks ago that we started this course and I am so grateful for all that I have learnt in this time. It was exciting and empowering to be able to learn how to open a gmail account. I have already opened an account for a  friend  of mine who is going to study Business Management at Cape College from June 2  2018. she will be using her gmail account because she will be studying part time  and the college will send all her lessons to her gmail account. I am not so sure about blogger and this week which is  our final week we will be opening a face book account. All the facilitators have been so patient with us and some of the more senior ladies have been a real inspiration to me. I thank them all for their dedication and their assistance of which I am eternally grateful.
