Geeky Moms

It  feels  like  ages  not  exercising ,but  it  was  only  for  2  months.Not  doing  any  exercises  feels  like     i  missed  out  years  of  doing  nothing.My  body  is  screaming  for  help . I  know  what  i  need  to  do  and  Monday  start  drinking  lots  of  water  everyday  and  eating  healthy.Winter  was  difficult    to  keep  in  shape as  i  was  tempted  with  bread  and  struggled  to  stay  away from  junk  foods. Now i  am  ready to  face  my challenges  once  again.Sweating  and  exercising as  the  saying is  no  pain  no gain.I  can  be  in  control  of  my  body.

A new world opened in my life to see so many positive young people willing to help and assist the matured ladies. This 3 weeks opened my eyes to so many things in the computer world.. Thanks so much for your kind and willing spirit I sincerely appreciate it, A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERY ONE' especially  WENDY and EDWINA .

The first day at R labs was very good .I learn a lot at R labs that I did not now of  and I glad my sister told me about R labs.My sister is my hero. I who'd like to thank her for inspired me to come to R labs thank you Veronica u are the boom .I told my friends at work about R labs now they also want too come to R labs.   Thank you R labs team for what u are doing for us   My God bless u guys a lot

My name is Michelle Esau, mother of four wife to a husband employed and an asset to my family.       But what I lack is myself .  Eager to learn computers  I was   recommended to R Labs.  By entering   a whole new door opened  up and I  saw this  writing in front of me 'Grabbing Opportunities'  Feeling relaxed learning ;making mistakes time after time I felt very important as I was helped with a smile.    Can't wait for Saturday mornings to head off and get the attention I sometimes lack with myself.

From the first day we started this programme i have been inspired. It just creates an enviroment where woman are empowered to make a difference in their daily lives by making use of the Social Media out there. The academy made me feel so much beter about myself in every way possible it just showed me a side of myself that i never thought in a million years i had in me. Very greatfull to the Rlabs Academy for offering me a programme that deepened my understanding to a Computer and the Social Media.

I heard of rlabs by a friend. She was a cleaner at work, then she came to rlabs and was introduse to the computer. As she told them at work they gave her a oppurtunity to go on the computer and praise the Lord she has been promoted from cleaner to the office.As she told me I also registed at rlabs. Remember this is a whole new world to me, but whaa, what a amazing, patient, loving, caring team of dolls, I"m connected now and love every second of it, I realise it's never too late to learn. Can't wait for saturday's to come to see all the exciting ladies who come's to equip and empower themselves. Praise the Lord for a new season in my life and to rlabs for new begings. As I started a new job thanks to my boss who teach and encourage me on the computer every day.   May God bless you guys

One of our fund raisers for the year was our stage production Esther. There, were much excitement while the cast were practicing for the opening night. Everyone were excited about the opening night. The story of Esther is about a young woman who had great faith, she saved her nation from their oppressors. The cast looked stunning in their costumes. Our assistant priest was the narrator, she had a soft soothing voice. The decor and music were awesome. financially the production was a great success.

Its been three Saturdays now since i have been attending the Moms 7.0 classes at.rlabs.All that i can say is that i have learnt so much in this short time.Besides all the information that i have gained i have meet the most amazing tutors.They are all so patient with us ,never giving up when we did now what to do.                                                                                                                                                                                     I have also made more friends here.My life has been changed for the good because i now know how to gain acsess to the internet.Life is so rushed but when you enter this place the atmosphere is so relaxed  u just feel so much better.I have so much gratitude in my heart towards all the leaders of this place and i just want to say thank you.May u grow from strength to strength

The seasons are changing and we experiencing different weather conditions,after all the cold and wet weather it is great to enjoy the wonderful hot sunshine day today! So Spring is in the Air Ladies. Life is Good ,we so fortunate to have  been attending the Moms 0.70 course for the pass thee weeks at R lab,which are very exciting,empowering @ enlightening!  It has been a good learning experience ,with all the joy and happiness that make  Life a bit more interesting. The ladies are all enjoying to learn more about  social media and its great fun@ lots of laughter..... Immediately everyone's mood has been lifted and are more relaxed,at ease and happy, since the sun is out @  having fun with the computer!  So exciting to learn new things...Blogging.....oh my word Life is Great.  The facilitators Wendy and Edwina has been a great inspiration to all the ladies! My name is Elizabeth I was born in Cape Town I have two kids and two grand childs my story is about myself I went to finish my matric at the adult school in 2003 and pass and than I work for myself Iwas selling clothing and bought me  a car and than I traveld school children. I continue with my busness and I bougth me another car and than in 2014 I go for training to sell propertys now  im busy with that i share these to all women that it is never to late

Why would  I say  enjoy life to the fullness because too many people is worried about there circumstances. Many times it is your situations that is pulling you  down.I would like to share with you  and encourage you that you are not alone.No matter where you at in your life right now,never give up.Keep pushing forward. There is light at the other side of the tunnel . My name is Mariam Naidoo, Am retired professional psychiatric sister since 1998. I started my nursing career in the late 1950 at New Somerst Hospital then continued at Gtoote Schuur Hospital and eventually did my psychiatric training at Valkenberg Hospital. Psychiatry was my passion therefore I remained at Valkenberg. Was transferred to Lentegeur Hospital when the new hospital opened in 1976. Seven years after my retirement, I joined up with an Estate Agency Company selling houses. This profession was totally new to me but I persued the challenge. During this time I did the NQF4 course in Real Estate . Am currently enjoying my second choice of career but the challenge is so great because I am competing with the younger generation, This challenge has encouraged me to become computer literate therefore I am exceptionally grateful for the opportunity I have been afforded by Rlabs to do the MOMS 7.0

Today is the day...i am officially a blogger. Today im learning something new, I've never done blogging before. A big Thanks to RLABS for introducing me to the world of blogging. Up to now it has only been a term I've heard so many times but never really understood what it meant. My mom and I decided to do the MOMS 7 class as a way of empowering her. Thouhgt if I came with to the classes it will help with her confidence. However I must say you ladies rock...all the patience in the world. I dont have half the patience but I'm learning....who know's I must help you ladies  out next year with your classes. Hi I am Gail and feeling good .I like coming here I know nothing but I am now learning by RLabs makes me stand up to meet people.By being here I've learnt many thing.

I'm very thankful to the rlabs team that introduced me to this wonderful opportunity .Thank you for Angelo that inspired me to do the course and you know what that let me think how much opportunities I've let slip through my fingers. I,m Moereidiah Lewis. Being a mom of 5,always trying my best for my family and never time for myself. Now they all grown up i have decided to do something for me.I was told by my daughter about the classes @ rlabs. .The things we learn @ rlabs is very uplifting. I will encourage any mom out there to came and join the happy family @ RLABS. The staff is so encouraging and patient with us. I want to thank each and every person for all the help. This will be a step to a better future for myself.

My daughter started  grade 8 and my sister gave her a computer. She would sometimes leave the computer on and mom however have no clue as to how to switch it off. Today me doing this course I went home and the Monday having some spare time I went into the room switch on the computer went into my account, google rlabs and my daughter was very impress. Thank you Rlabs for this opportunity where I could educate and empower myself.

Since I was a child ,I always had a low self esteem. I was negative  about everything  Opportunities just didn't come my way and and I started giving up on everything in life  then one day after many years of suffering ,I started seeing light ,through people and place like RLabs who's giving people like me a second chance in life  at R Labs people get opportunities they never got. Thank you RLabs.

What a journey that I'm on. Thank you Rlabs for this wonderful opportunity here.  It's being an amazing journey so far for me. I am a person that always see to other's needs first before my own.  But this course done wonders for me.  It's almost I dance my way into things from the day I start off here. Hi there my name is Carmen Jane Coert . I am 37yrs old and i live in Maitland. I am married for 7yrs now and i have 3 kids 4, 10 and 14yrs old. I would like to talk about the experience i had in life.When i was 3 months pregnant with my 3rd child, they wanted me to board the baby. I said no because that is not what i believed in. The doctor's said what ever i decide they will stand 100% with me. The doctor's had to do different test and scan,s. On the 11 April 2010 i had a beautiful baby girl.I said thank you Lord for being with me through the pregnancy. The second experience i had was, when my baby was 5 months old. I had a stroke because my blood pressure was very high. I could not use my left side. I started praying while i was laying in hospital.I was in hospital for a week.I tried to help myself and i just prayed. I was at home for 3 months. I just want to say , always have faith and believe because God is good.

Now I am at the Swiss airport and, Oh my word! the first thing I saw, was the Alps. I could not believe that I was actually on the Alps.  After a very productive life of childcare and community development' retirement seem such a daunting challenge to me.I soon realised it was part of my longterm planning of lifelong learning. It was my turn to make some informed choices based on my physical' emotional; spiritual and social needs.I did not have to become a fultime housekeeper like my grandmother. Adventure was the way to go.Exploring the many stories in our community resources I absolutely enjoy fun of bi-weekly walks from Athlone to RondeboschCommon with agroup of walking enthusiasts. Hello my name is Samantha Keys im 37 years old, married and have 3 children. I started the Rlabs Moms 7.0 the 16th of August 2014. Its a four weeks course and very interresting programme. The first week of my programme we introduce ourself. We also had pampering session where we had to do our nails. Also sign up gmail account and i now have my own email account which is so cool. This is my 3rd week and we do BLOGGING. Blogging is just so interresting, and next week is our last programme. To all the facillitators thanx alot very helpfull always nice always a smile on their faces and makes me feel good.

My  name  is  Amanda Matthys  and  i  am doing  a computer course  at  Rlabs. I  am  an  enrolled nurse  by  profession, i  am  working  at  life  Esidimeni Intermediate Care Facility. My  hobbies  are  reading,socializing and  doing big walks. I do  volunteering because i  love working  with  people and working in the community. I  belong to a charity called  Angels of  Hope,we  work mostly with cancer survivors and  their families. We did volunteer work at the  oncology  unit  at  Red Cross hospital For me it is an honour  to  empower myself  ,because  knowledge is  power. I feel that  we as women  can  reach  for the stars. I am a Mom of 3 children and 5 grandchildren,I am also a widow. I enjoy reading, cooking, gardening and the outdoors. I am so grateful that I have the opportunity, afforded me by RLabs to be able to do the course. We as Moms can improve our knowledge, with modern technology. I am so excited about all of this. The saying goes "you never too old to learn" it is a great way to improve the confidence in yourself. I will definately put what I have been educated with into good use.

I am a mother of 5 kids that feel that if i`m not computer literate i am gonna be stuck in the dark ages. My eldest son is 20 years old and his doing a computer engineer course. He just love building up and solving problems on a computer. But when i ask him 2 show me anything of a computer then he does it for me and tells me its 2 technical for me to under stand. He help other people and always tell me "Mom don't need 2 do it if I can do it for u mom". I know he mean well. Then i discover Rlab! What a fantastic place 2 learn. The staff always smile and make u feel u part of the family and that u very important part of the school. Thank you Rlabs. May you grow and grow and never stop growing God willing.

My name is Veronica Williams am 49 years old .My hobbies are cooking ,baking,outdoor life and meeting new people. I am a facilitaor for Feotal Alcohol and Substance and i work at Early Years Services an NPO .I decide to join Rlabs to broaden my vision about the techno world. My experience here at Rlabs the past three weeks has been so awesome, the way the  facilitators welcome you and the friendlyness just made you feel so at ease.I feel honoured and proud to be part of this Mom 7.0 class.The things i have learned over the past few weeks have really help me in the work place .Time has gone by so fast am actualy a bit sad that next week  will be my last class here . My hobby is baking.I  loved it so much, that I turned it into a business.That enabled me to be a stay at home mom.Things changed 6 years ago when my first grandson was born. I am Nadeema Adams . I had a awesome week.  At 8 am my friend phoned me from Canada. She has just arrived at the airport. What a lovely surprise! Later that day we went for coffee.  We could not stop talking , how our lives has changed. Her husband died in an accident. She got three kids. The eldest one is married to a Morrocon guy. the second eldest is married to a Pakistani girl. The youngest girl is married to a Egiptian guy. Oh wow, what a combination of different cultures. My live was completely different to hers. I was  happily married. My two children is still unmarried . The youngest one is still on school. Hoping my eldest child would get married soon. This is the house we stay in.

Hi, my name is Yolanda Spannenberg mother of two boys from Valhalla Park. The most exciting time in my life was when i was introduce to rlabs.mom7.0. I feel more focused and goal orientated. It is exciting being around women, moms we exchange recipes give each other advice and we socialize. It is great being here , being away from home and enjoying new chalenges. It is like my mom use to say ' you reap what you sow'. Now it is week three i do not want the time to end. So i must shout the word out give me more. My children cannot make fun of me anymore. I think i can show them a thing or two.  There is so much i want to share of all my experiences but watch the space......        

The  reason why Rlabs I have a dream of bringing change in my community ,I tried many avenue studying an getting myself equipped to impact others ,its.seemed impossible ,but then I discovered Rlabs .I've seen people lives changed that was once a hopeless case .but the type of character that I see now made me more determined to get into the space so , I could also be empowered and help bring out the real value and potential in the person. My first day I left feeling valued .the facilitators attitude is one of you are important ,the patience and sincerity in their approach with everyone ,makes you confident of being you and motivated to no matter what you can approach.

My name is Sharon Van Der Berg,( born Lawrence) from the parents Richard and Marie Lawrence .When I was a child I remember having an aunt that immigrated to Middlesex, England in either the 50's or the 60's. Her name was Thora or better known as Anna, and she was the sister of my dad Richard nicknamed (Bully). I also remember writing letters to her on behalf of my dad, and she would reply. We corresponded like that for years untill my dad passed on in 1973.Since the passing on of my dad the correspondence stopped, and I lost contact with my aunt. I also have cousins, being the children of this aunt whom I never met, and am dying to meet or get to know them someday before I pass on.I am trying everything possible to try and locate that part of the family as it would mean the world to me. I really do hope that this Social Media would be a source of help to me in this family search.

Today is the day that all the moms from the RLabs Academy 2nd Semester is introduced to blogging and more importantly to the rlabsmoms.blogspot.com blog. Since 2008, RLabs has been training women from the local and surrounding communities. These women are passionate about reconstructing their communities.
