Twitter Moms

Twitter School

Image
Today the Reconstructed Trainers had a session with the Mom 2.0 ladies teaching them mroe about the micro-blogging tool Twitter . The ladies really impressed me how they embraced the technology and by the end of the day they already had more than 500 tweets amongst them combined. Not bad for a first day of Twitter School. Be sure to find out more about these women who are using twitter as a way to reach out to other women and mothers in need. This is a first for these women who a few months ago had never even touched a computer but today they are using Social Media for Social Change.

A True Hero

Image
There are many people who come into our lives and make a difference but there are only a few who leaves an impact. Everyone are looking for heroes and in our community we have many but there is one person I would like to highlight. With so many extraordinary individuals around us, I would like to commend and honour one of our Reconstructed Team members for putting others before himself. Craig "King" Ross lost his father yesterday and the sudden loss of a father, husband and friend is a very traumatic experience. Craig selflessly came to offer support today via our Drug Advice Service (DAS) helping many people (1293 messages today alone) across the nation even though he lost his father. The manner which he serves his community and others in South Africa is incredible. Yet very few people would give credit to the work he is doing and the lives he is touching and this without expecting anything in return. Therefore this post is to honour Craig for showing us what true Reconstru

OUR CHILDREN OF TODAY

I've been looking at pictures of my children when they were very small. I saw how innocent they looked and when they were playing they did not have a care in the world, they invented their own games, used tins and sticks, stones, etc. If I look at the children growing up in this world today, it amazes me to see how grown-up they are, disrespectful towards their parents, don't want to do errands for their moms, always grumbling about everything. They get the most expensive toys, playstations which cost about R5,000! Then they sit all day playing. Then they get cell phones, which they totally abuse for their benefit, and not what it was intended for. I believe parents want to give their kids what their parents could not afford to give them when they were growing up. But I also believe parents must discipline the kids when the need arises. As a mother, when my kids were growing up, I spoilt them but there was also lots of disciplining with the rod, and as they grew old

The positive crowd.

The Monday went very well at the Impact Centre. We had a full house people just came and enjoyed the morning. Three new ladies came to join the club, they felt welcome and thank us for the warmth and love they felt. I met aunty Fiona on Saturday she was wearing her Impact tracksuit and was very proud . Her daughter complimented her and she made sure that her friends noticed her. Aunty Mabel phoned me the afternoon inquiring about her date for pampering. I asked her weither she wanted to reschedule she said "nie ek willie my voete verloor nie" Translating I dont want to lose my feet, meaning I want to keep my date. I had to give a little giggle when one lady said "I have sugar I have water I just need a tea bag " after I asked her about her health. I hope and pray that God will keep me strong to enjoy my senior year as this lot they so eager and willing to do His will. They have lots of love and energy. They are a real blessing.

baby Kyle

I went to visit my latest grandchild on Tuesday. on arriving there, his mom was bathing him. I told her I would like to do it. My gosh. It was so amazing to be bathing a little baby after such a long time., and he is very small for his age, and only 2 weeks old. I was amazed that I could still handle him . But then I realized that a mother never looses her touch. God has made us mothers so special, to give love and nurture them. As a mother, I don't only bath and feed my grandchildren, I always PRAY for them, which is more important that anything else. Today, newborn babies come out smiling, they sit up straightbacked, and they even smile at you. Its not like the olden days when moms stayed in bed for 10 days and babies started crawling at 9mnths. children are an amazing creation of God, who formed us all in our mothers womb.

RELEASING

RELAX ,RELEASE,LET GO. Those are the wise words I read the time I needed it the most.If it can help you, what ever you are going through make it your own.The story of my life.Knowing he did not want the responcebility, loved me ,was not in love with me .All we have is the children incommen.RELAX in the knowlege that he did'nt take anything from me.I loved myself and was inlove with myself.Iwas happy nad joyfull in who Iwas.RELEASE the fact that his hurting me .Fine but I had the Children the love the joy of seeing them grow .Finding myself again after all this time sleeping when I wanted.Cooking when I want.Pleasing ME .LET GO .Giving him the greatest blessings of all.THESE ARE THE WORDS THAT WAS UTTERED TO HIM.YOUR WISH FOR YOU ,ARE MY WISH FOR YOU. It is so releasing.THANK YOU GOD.

Sports day

On 28 May about 10 pm my phone rang, it was one of our lady,s Aunty Pauline from our seniors club. She asked me whether the sports was still happening I asked her why she said "didn't you watch the weather it is going to rain. We were hoping that we would have a nice cool day. My phone rang the morning of the sports it was aunty Susan " Jemima is the sports still on its raining cats and dogs". It was 6am the morning when my phone rang it never stop ringing I later had the ringtone recorded in my ears. Next aunt Alma then aunty Liza, aunty Maud and then I jumped out of bed. I got to the office and start phoning around. My first call was to social development , they organized the sports but they were not sure about the sports. I had to phone everyone just to be ready while we wait on the raining. When I went to the seniors room there was already seniors so they were the ones who did not conceder the weather. I was a bit concern, their health
