SHEBEENS IN OUR EAREA

Shebeens is a big problem in my area .Selling wine to underage children an drunk people is a problem in my street. When these children are drunk they fit and they load being a big disturbans.

alcohol problem in our comunity

Most of the youngsters in our area are drinking,my son one of them. The worst time is on a Friday and Saturday night. Its boys and girls drinking  parking there cars on the corner in our circle playing load music. The load laughter and talking, breaking of bottles, sometimes fights breaking out between friends that really is a big disturb ens for everyone. Most of the time people call the police to dispose of them.I curbed my son to drink on the corners with his friends but that did not stop him and his friends from drinking. So how do we stop these children from drinking on the streets?Firstly know where your children are and what they are up to.Talk to them about the dangers of drinking alcohol and the consequences that goes with it.Mostly pray for your kids.In the community i think a neighborhood watch would help a lot.

neglect of children

my opposite neighbour has a 2 year old child and another one on the way. she is very abusive towards the child and her parents are not much help either.my heart goes out to him ,i just wish that i can take him under my care and help him.it is very sad to see him suffer.

Substance Abuse

Everyday when I walk down the road past the park, I see the Pine Boys sitting there just doing nothing. They pass their time drinking and smoking.I am so concerned about them. They have no faith in anyone not even them selves.I feel that I must do something to help I would like to get them together and find out what they are interested in.

CREATING THEIR OWN DISASTER

To my knowledge as I see crime being committed in our area's, our community,to elderly it is actually a sad state of affairs. Many of the culprits are our own young people. The community do not not speak out half of the time because they are afraid to speak out.Their lives are sometimes in danger. The question is,how do we as,first and foremost the parents of some of these young people as the community,as the mentors to them, how do you rehabilitate these young people. If we can stand together as one,the church, mosque, surely something can be done. Our young people turn to drugs, all sorts of drugs, alcohol and they become abusive to their families, and friends.People become so addictive they are in their own worlds. They also become thieves stealing from family members, lying and even believing their own lies.Sometimes rehabilitation do not even help them. They come back worse, but there is help and I know there is HOPE.RLABS can surely do the job. Some of these young people even

OUR COMMUNITY.

WHY WE HAVE A PROBLEM IS BECAUSE OF UNEMPLOYMENT.IF ONLY WE CAN CREATE JOBS THERE WONT BE SO MUCH CRIME AND DRUG ADDICTION.MONEY IS THE PROBLEM IN OUR COMMUNITY.TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM IS TO RAISE FUNDS.

Get a Life!

What happens to our youth? Why have they lost the love for life? How can we get them to change their attitude to what they want and do and just embrace life, love life and be eager to start their day? I would like to get the whole community to get involved in a project to assist to get  their zest of life back.A BAND! All people love music ! So! Lets form a band! This will take some time as so much funds will have to be gathered. But if they play an active part in raising the money for this project, also learning to play the instruments and just having a ball with everyone in the area joining in the fun just maybe, maybe doing what they love will give them a new lease on life and keep them away from the negative things that will eventually destroy their lives.

Problems and solutions

In most communities we get a lot of problems and very few solutions. To name a few problems drugs, alchol abuse, teenage pregnancies, unemployment. The heroes of our world tries to help find solution by starting different projects. They are very effective and it helps a lot of people. The only problem is each of these problems are handled individualy. If I should have it in my power I would have one central building ( Community Forum) whereby people can be empower to upgrade and uplift the community. Volunteers should be invited. Weekly meetings should be held and discussions on who would tackle what problems. Donations and approaching companies to adopt the community to assist them financially. Regular reports on progress should be updated. Professionals in different areas of expertise should be invited. Positivity must always be our focus. Records must be kept on achievements. Newsletters must be send to the community to inform them of  activities of Community Forum. The forum should

street kids

I think fathers will have to be more responsible for the up bringing of children. There are to much kids living on the street. Our children are looking for role models. With father not being around kids are struggling to find there own identity.Mothers always end up working very hard to rise kids on there own.Children end up doing drugs, stealing, raping, some children do not even complete their education.

helping the community

hi when i look around and see whats going on in my community poverty teenage prenancy and u ask yourself what can i do to make difference give sewing lessons to help the poverty and get the teenagers to sell  the goods during class a time for  short word from the bible and nice cup of tea always be positive in what u intend to do.

Reaching out to those in need

As a single mother with a son, things are not always easy. I had experience the hard and difficult side of life. My son got involve with drugs and breaking the law. It was like living a nightmare that does not have a end. Sending him to rehab and going to courts was like living on the edge all the time. But through the grace of God HE carry me through and still does. What i learn out of all my experience that i can be a encouragement to mothers and children who has been the same suffering i been going through. It is now four years that my son has been set free from his terrible ordeal and what God has done for my son he can do for everyone.
I was very young I had a boy I was very happy four later I had girl they where everything to me. they would everything for me I would lay the work out for them. He got sick at age thirty for two years. He past away I mist him very mush. My mother past away after that now mist them both I look after my brother.
my cry out is like these the people must stand together and help one another in the community,

Alcohol abuse

Alcohol abuse is one of the main causes of family break-ups.In most cases people use alcohol to escape from their problems. We have to let people with the same alcohol abuse problem share their stories with each other and open up to each other.People that have been in a situation like that must tell his or her story and give advice on how to deal with the problem. This is one of the first steps to help people deal with alcohol abuse.

opportunities to uplift the community

Hi i am from bridgetown.I actually grew up in this area and i am still living there.I must say there has been so much improvement in uplifting the community. My passion is children and the youth and i would like to see more done for them for they are the future and the leaders of tomorrow. So many children to a great extent are left to there own devices and they get caught up in wrong situation maybe because there is no adult around to steer them in the right direction.Sometimes yes it is circumstances maybe a single parent have to work and can't have eyes everywhere or there is absent father so the child has no role model. The children are now moulded in there environment and the only way they know how to have fun is to do it with substance abuse whether it be alcohol or drugs. Some children don't even know what a game arcade look like or has never been to the zoo or a farm and it does not have to be about money to have fun and games with them there is so many ways that they enjoy

Community

Drugs & teen pregnancies is very big in our community. We need to find a solution to these problems, which many have tried but the youngsters still don't pay much attention too. Trying to educate them didn't help much. What can we do to overcome this problem. Shall we castrade them?? That would be too drastic & I will go to jail, (which is something I definitely wouldn't like to experience) There are quite a few options that different people are trying. For instance there are sports clubs & musical bands, which is a help, but still is not sufficient. I am thinking of opening a care centre, where I can take in the entire youth in our community, and have one on one with each & everyone and make them understand the importance of abstaining from drugs as well as sex, because if you indulge in any of these, there is great responsibility attached.

Where do our kids play?

In our community the main problems are the usual drug and alcohol abuse which leads to broken homes, domestic violence and many more crimes.  In the street I live in we have a problem with certain neighbours not wanting kids to be kids and play soccer or make too much of a noise outside their property. Where do the children play??  At the end of the street there is a huge field which belongs to the Cape Town City Council and is cordoned off with a vibacrete wall. If the children cannot be children and play in the street they live or on the nearest field this,in my opinion is where it all goes wrong...they start hanging out with the wrong crowds and end up using drugs and alcohol which in the end lead to a live of gangsterism.  If adults realize that in our communities this is the only places kids have to play and just leave them to it they might not end up with gangsters as friends and in turn the main problems of our communities which I mentioned at the beginning of my blog mig

concerned parent

I live in Athlone.   One day I look through the window and saw girls and boys sitting on the pavement smoking. I phone the principal of the school and told him about them. I then told him they are smoking dagga He then understood and sent some teacher to find out what is going on.  The children all ran away in different directions and it never happened again

Love and Law

Three weeks ago I witnessed a young man robbing a homeless boy at nantes park while his family was celebrating his baby son's christening. He saw me watching him, but he just didn't care. He was more interested in impressing his friends. Ironically his mother is a member of the neighbourhood watch. They live around the corner from us. Two nights ago he tried to rob a men at the same spot and ended up being pistol whipped. He is walking around with a swollen face and a head the size of a pumpkin. Do I feel sorry for him? Not really. His arrogant and believes he is untouchable because his mother is connected to Athlone police station. To all parents! We all love our children and want what's best for them, but there is a line. That line is called Love and Law.
Hiiii  Readers This is Jaybee again. Hope all of you are well after the Easter Holidays.Well during this time lots of people died gangsters, elderly people, children, etc.  The biggest problem in our community is gangsterism.  They stab, rob and shoot every week, killing each other.  In this process the community(elderly and children most of the time) also gets hurt or die.  People are scared to walk outside or go anywhere. Our community needs to stand together and take back our children and our community but we need help.  I believe those gangsters are all human and also have mothers.  We need to help them to help themselves and to make a difference in their lives and their community.   We are all from one God and God is in control.   To those reading this blog what can we do that helped your community. God bless all of us and may God keep us safe from harm.  I thank you for reading this. Love JAYBEE

Myself

I am 36 years old,I am married I had three children and stay in Bridgetown.

DRUGS

Drugs is prolem in the community if people can stop selling the drugs, life will be so much easy for us. Sometimes it starts at home. Parents don`t take note what`s going on. They let kids do what they want to do, if we as parents can get more involve with our children and be there when they need us it will help alot.

ANIMAL LOVER

We have a stray dog in our road .He is a male .I suspect he ran away from his home during Guy Fawks last November .He has attatched himself to a particular house in the street .Unfortunately the owners of this house dislikes dogs .However, the dog loves and follows the tenant living in flatlet of the house . This tenant is too scared to feed the dog for fear of being booted out .I feed the dog once a day whenever I can find him .I have tried to lure him to our property but he is scared of my dogs . With winter approaching, I dread that he has no proper shelter .He is always scrounging for food . He is a small Maltese type dog and is light brown in colour and is well trained .(He does not poo on the property ! ) With this blog I`m hoping to make many aware of taking proper care of their animals when using fire crackers . NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

I the time gone by we were heavily involved with the neighbourhood watch our house was used as the base where everyone had to sign in for duties to be taken either during the day or for night duties. The guys would all get a walky talky to communicate with each other. Our area was kept clean of the drug lords or anyone who was either selling or using. It was sad to see how our children were into the addiction and there was a lot of stealing to buy a stop. Parents complained how all their belonings disappeared from their homes. They would approach the neighbourhood watch to assist them with this major problem. There was even counselling done for those who needed it and some of them had to be referred to the drug councelling centre. Apart from this was that everyone wanted the neighbourhood watch to patrol the streets, but few of them offered up their time. Most people in the area did not give their input and very little funds came thru to help as some guys had to be paid a s

RISE TO THE OCCASION

Image
One of the problems in our community is the abuse of alcohol .Our young and old people don't have anything else to do with there time and because there is a lot of  places available for them to go buy wine and they  think that because there parents or parent are doing it they too must  RISE TO THE OCCASION . That is what grieves me most .  I think that people in our community that don't drink must come together and just have fun together and show those people that drinking alcohol is not the way to have fun. You can have a nice time without wine.

hungry children.

My daughter has just started with  feeding the grade r class at Bokmakierie primary which consists of forty children. She went there early on Tuesday morning fed the children they were very, very grateful everything went down very well  and she is very happy.but she is actually looking for more other schools where she can help.

parenting.

Parents that leave there children roaming around on the street. There is a two year old girl that play alone on the street corner and walking to the shop unattended to. The gran is to busy and also of age. how can you help here.

solutions to problems in your community

The problem in my community is a lot of our young children feel that they do not need  finish their education. They feel that at the age when they get to High School they are old enough to take on the roll of an adult.I am not saying that is the only factor but they end up sitting on street corners no hope and no education to back them up. The solution if they finish grade seven let them try to form a group where a young person that has maybe just finished atleast high school give motivational talks so that they do not feel that they need to do wrong things.

Solving Problems in my Community

The problem in my community is that children going to High School feel that they do not need to finish their education and end up sitting on street corners. People maybe youngsters that have just finished their education could give talks to children that have just finished grade seven. That is the time that they need the most guidance.I feel that that is the time that they are the most vulnerable. That is a big problem for our youngsters as there is no future without education.

Dignity

Image
Dignity We have a problem in our community where the youth due to constraints and and no social activities available in close proximity, they end up being couch potatoes or get active with social ills and end up being drug users or alcoholics, this then leads to families and family lives being ruined as many do not know how to deal with substances which is foreign to them and by this we lose our family and youth to these social ills since there is not much guidance or opportunities for further education, growth (holistic development). This is how our families and communities are being ruined. Solution By seeing the sadness and disappointment's on the faces of our youth who so desperately would love the opportunity to further their studies and the family is not able to support further studies due to constraints, I saw the opportunity and dire need to do something for our youth which will have an impact in the lives of community, especial our youth, if they had the opportuni

DRUG ABUSE IN OUR COMMUNITY

Image
DRUG ABUSE IN OUR COMMUNITY THE PROBLEM: The problem in our community is the drug abuse and it causes a lot of constraints by parents which cannot deal with their children as there are a lot of violence involve.  Meaning that the effect that these drugs has on them which cannot control their ways. Like most times the child will steal out of the house, use violence to get attention, stabbing whoever  comes in their way and a lot of other violent things by getting attention. The parents always ask what more can I do for my child as I cannot handle if the child is in that high mood. What can I do as a parent? Is their a solution as most of them will say I will kill my child, but that is not a solution as you will deal with the law. So what can a parent do with such a child?  That is questions that parents that is in such situations want solutions and not want more problems. They no about the different rehabilitation and institutions for help but is the child prepared to receive those tr

Honouring Poet James Mathews

Campaign  to Honour Poet James Mathews. Dear Friends of James Mathews, I am appealling to all out there to support me in my recommendation  to the University of the Western Cape to honour James Mathews, the 82 year old poet who lives in Silvertown, Athlone, Cape Town, South africa. I am recommending that James be honoured with a Doctorate, alternately a special honour as the university sees fit. James is an internationally and nationally acclaimed author and poet. He has been contributing to the literary world since the 1950s according to his  peer, Peter Clarcke who is also an author.  He has authored already 12 books of poetry and short stories, evidence of his astuteness. He has been and still is a mentor to many young people over the years. James as a social activist all his life, fearlessly contributed to our freedom  struggle as South Africans. His protest poetry targetted oppression under the  apartheid regime. Imprisonm

The silence in my community

Image
Today I want to write about a different memory - one that is not really a part of my family or myself - however, it is something that may or may not affect my children. The one thing I'm reminded of on a daily basis - is the ultimate quiet in our community.  In fact its so quiet that I look up when I hear footsteps in the road... Now, don't get me wrong, this type of silence is really a good thing, however, when I look out at the sound of the footsteps, they are mainly accompanied with the body of a young person just walking around aimlessly - sometimes a group of young men/girls or a mixed group. The silence may be really great for us that are slightly older (note - I didn't say old!) but for the young people this can be the beginning of the things that we would really want to keep them away from - ie. smoking, planning of unsupervised parties, drugs, experimenting of all sorts of sexual fantasies which ends up in wanted/unwanted pregnancies, which in turn add

Solving a problem

the problem in my community is the people that lives on the street they have no shelter, food or a place to wash. I was thinking of having a fund raiser by having a cake sale so that the people can have a plate of  food .  I got a shelter to hire for them they can wash there, bath and have a nice warm bed to sleep in but they must come at a certain time.I am so glad i could help because i was thinking mostly of the old people and the people with kids.

Easter Weekend

Hi all New Moms, I pray that everyone is looking forward to the long Easter weekend . In my neck of the woods I smell the aroma of fish frying . I can just imagine you scurrying to get your fish pickled . ENJOY THE PROCESS ! God bless, Ellie X

down but not out

I am at work today feeling exhausted and bit down. I know I have alot to be grateful for, but I so want my own place. My family and I in our own home. My husband and I are trying our best but he is so deep in debt I don't even want to think about it anymore. He must sort out his own problems. He only told me about his money issues after we got married and I know that I didn't make it worst for him. He is a shopaholic. He must have brand name takkies, pants and shirts.Yes,If you can afford it, then go for it, but if you can't then leave it. It makes me angry to petend that everything is ok when it's not. I am not good at hiding my emotions. I just decided that I will no longer wait on him to do something about our situation.I will do it myself. I will find a buy, build, set up a home for my family. I don't care what people think or say. "It's a man's resposibility to provide a home for his family." If a man can't do it,than a WOMAN will and I am
