Power and Empowering Hi All I am Tazneem Willemse, and I started my journey with RLabs by chance. I was actually looking for something for my 16 year old son to do as I wanted him to do something other than sleep and watch television on a weekend. I wanted him to have some other form of Brain Stimulation as well as mixing with other people that is not his family. When we attend the orientation / open day, I learned that RLabs has such a diverse set of courses available for anyone no matter the age or gender or background. NO JUDGMENT   What I am learning thus far is that I had no idea of how really diverse a group of people we are being introduced to. WOW. There are no limits, we will put limits on ourselves. I am learning something new every week, whether it is about how to do something new or about myself. IT IS LIBERATING. I want my son to feel this liberating and to be empowered by what he learns, whether it be about the course he is attending or about h

What is a Healthy Lifestyle?

This is Amina Smith.  It is good for us to have interests and interests are activities that we enjoy doing or being part of. My interests are many and on top of the list is living a Healthy Lifestyle, also interacting with people, effective communication, walking in the great outdoors, swimming, floral arranging, learning new things, baking, theatre, travel. So WHAT IS A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE? A Healthy Lifestyle for me is like the Umbrella If we do not feel good, it becomes an effort to partake in interests or activities A Healthy Lifestyle is a holistic approach, that means what we eat, when and how we eat (the body needs fuel), our physical activities - the body thrives on being worked, for example, the heart performs better when we exercise. The benefits are many, that is toned muscles, improved skin, stress relief, etc..  Also, we need to set aside time for relaxation and make sure that we have good sleep. I have gained so much by living Healthily - am on no chronic

Sadias life story

My name is Sadia van niekerk, i am a mother of four but have raised 5 kids. I got married when I was 16 years old, my mom went to Mecca and she decided that she would rather let me get married so that i could manage the household, which I did to the best of my ability, I was a bit sad as I did not complete my high school studies, but luckily for me i married a guy that loved me and offered me all the support and this allowed me to continue my journey, it was not easy but I was always willing to learn and improve my life in each and every way possible. Both of us come from poor backgrounds, but we believed in each other and had a strong religious belief that a family that prays together stays together and this took us to a marriage of 43 yrs, through the grace of the Almighty. My husband never wanted me to go and work but because he was a tailor, the income was slow and this got me wanting to go and work and carve a name for myself. I did admin work and went from strengt
MOTHERHOOD. My name is Nurunisa Palleker. I got married when I was 28 years old. I fell pregnant on the honeymoon and nine months later gave birth. While in labor trying to give natural birth I would clamp my husband head under my arm, I thought I was going to strangle him every time I had a contraction. Eventually, the doctor said they have to do an emergency cesarean. At that point, I did not care as long as I can get out of this excruciating pain. I woke up the next morning with no baby nor husband by me. Immediately the worse thoughts went through my mind. I thought my baby must have been stillborn. I was in a complete panic when the nurse brought this beautiful little baby girl with spikey hair looking like a red skin. I immediately fell in love with this little girl and call her my babydoll. I had two boys after her but always thank the almighty for granting “my soft landing”. She has been nothing but a pleasure and has never given me a moment of worry.

My Reflections

Image
My Social Life Oh yes , I’m a Social Butterfly. I love being with people and meeting new ones. And yes all people are different. Just because I love mixing doesn’t mean that everyone else does. I also accept people for who they are. I try to practice “being Human” so therefore I must see everybody as a human being. This is not always the easiest thing to do given the many horrible things people to others.  So what do I do to change my attitude? I say what comes to my mind, under my breath of course, take 6 seconds to pause and then calm down. By then I am ready to re-assess. It’s amazing how much changes in my body, my thought patterns, my attitude and the final peaceful outcome.  Today I am blogging after a very long time and thoroughly enjoying it.  As tomorrow will be the 1st of September and supposedly officially the first of Spring we are hoping for some Spring sunshine. Whatever the weather have a great day! I also wish all Muslims around the Globe

A LIFE CHANGING SMILE

Image
A SMILE MAKES A DIFFERENCE You smiled at me. I needed that smile. It changed my day. Even though I could feel the pain. I chose not to focus on it, but instead to focus on smiling. When you smile, even at yourself in the mirror, you can change the way your day is going. Your brain does not know the difference between a forced smile and a smile that comes from the heart. If you manage to keep your smile long enough, your brain will register that you are happy and you will start producing good hormones that will lift your spirits. Laughter is also an excellent medicine for promoting good health. If you have nothing to laugh at, laugh at yourself; laugh at your situation. Easier said than done? Yes, but it will produce the desired effect. I think that, in my ignorance, my ability to laugh, has been my saving grace. I love laughing. I seek out comedy shows in order to laugh when I feel down. I say something funny in order to lighten the atmosphere around me.

The Running World

Image
Hi, my Name is Yasmine and this my story of Joining a running club. Last year November i joined a running club just to keep fit, But what I’ve found there was a great group of people. They made me feel so welcome and i felt so at home there, running has really changed my outlook on life, and the best part of all my family support  my running. I’m doing things i never thought i could do, like i did my first two oceans marathon this year. The running community are an  amazing group of people they support you while you on the road running a race.  And they help one another when someone gets hurt in anyway, all types of people come together as one and that’s such a wonderful feeling. You don’t have to be super fit to run i totally love it , my running club it’s like another family to me.

My personal story

I worked for a certain company as a secretary for 22 years, after approximately 2 years of working, I had to undergo surgery for a cornea transplant. One morning the phone wrong, i answered then i heard a lady saying i am calling from doctor Hill’s rooms, my head was spinning when she told me they received my matching donor and it perishes after 3 days, plus there was a shortage of donors at that time. I spoke to my boss, he was very upset, he asked me to cancel the operation because it was December month, a very busy period, unfortunately I had to cancel the operation even though there was a shortage of donors, I also had to take him i consideration as he was an extremely good boss. After another 2 more years of working they received another matching donor then i had to undergo an operation on my right eye. I had to stay home for 2 weeks but oh my word, my boss came to fetch me the third day after my operation, myself as a very considerate person went to help him out, obviously I had
