Welcome new Moms-

Hi to all the new mom's , Welcome to blogger. I've read some of your stories and some was already so inspiring. I hope to read through all of your bloggs though. This is indeed a platform where you can express yourself and just put pen to paper and releasing your feelings. You will get the occasional comment here and there. You guys must be very excited Fridays already to come to class, because that was how I felt when I started at the Rlabs. It is indeed life changing. You're making new friends and learning new things. However the best part of these classes is getting to know oneself and the hidden skills that is within you. Sometimes we think we would never be able to do something or achieve anything. But that is a lie from the pit off hell. We were all created in the image of God. Intelligently, beautifully, creatively...ect. Don't ever doubt yourself, and keep on learning and educating yourself. Whether it be through Social Media or any other way.Make the most of

A STRONG PRAYER

Stars do not struggle to shine, rivers do not struggle to flow, and you will never struggle to excel in life, because you deserve the best. hold on to your dream and it shall be well with you...Amen. The eyes beholding this message shall not behold evil, the hand that will send this message to others shall not labor in vain, the mouth saying Amen to this prayer shall laugh forever, remain in God;s love... Your dream will not die, your plans will not fail, your destiny will  not be aborted, and the desire of your heart will be granted, Say a big Amen. The will of God will never take you where the grace of God will not protect you Amen.

CROSSROADS

Today is a good day,you know why because I am alive,I am breathing and smiling. A week ago I felt down,I was at a crossroad in my life, but it is all good.I'm in a good space now, I feel 20 right now. When you think your problems are big, think again for there are so many out there that is going through so many trials,so much abuse of all sorts which means we should be thankful and grateful. Many find themselves at crossroads, they do not know how to get out and they give up on life so easily not having anybody to help.My friends let us be there for them if you know of any,may it be a friend a family member even a stranger. If you want to know why you are here, this is why:to be a listener;to be a friend, because when you have been at a crossroad in your life then you will know what I'm talking about. When you are at a point in your life where no matter what goes on in your life, you can still be there for someone else forgetting about your own situation and circumstance. So my

family first

Its amazing how quick time passes us by one minute your children are small the next they all grown up.Life is short so we have to make use of every moment. We have to cherish our times we have with our families for families are the most important thing in the world if the world turns you down your family will always be there to support you. That's why family time is always number one on my list.

generations Part 2

Christina Diana was reared in in the town of Paarl in the Western Cape. She then married John James  Kenneth Gabriel and  had their first son. The first daughter , Dorothea Francina was born in 1889. Dorothea attended school but at the age of 10 was taken out and was then employed as a nursemaid to the children of a white family . For years she worked in service and later met and married David Justinus Hendricks, who was a panelbeater and also worked as a petrol attendant. Six children were born from this union. The second was a daughter, named Nancy Christina. Although Dorothea had so  little schooling but her one aim in life was  to give her children a good education.Nancy was educated to Standard 6 ( grade8) and then attended the Zonnebloem College for Education for 3 years. She was trained as a teacher and started her teaching career in the tiny village of Pniel in the Western Cape.

My me time

Hi all my first time blogging and I'm not really a story teller but I hope it'll be interesting enough to keep you coming back for more.. I am 35 yr old mom of 3 and recently celebrated my 15th anniversary. In my 15yrs of marriage I have been through a one year separation because of interfering in laws(many, many drama), loss of a baby, losing almost all possessions, dealing with infidelity and a crazy mistress, job loss and many more. Through all trials and tribulations of people trying to separate me and my hubby, we are still together and stronger than ever, but if you want to know more you have to check in now and then to catch up with how we came to be still growing stronger and stronger together, tune in for more.....

Life

Life, an interesting subject that people can explain in many words. The best person to explain life is ourselves, we can can desctibe our own life the best. I can try to explain my life. I believe we are placed here by God for a purpose. I went through many turbulances and learned a lot of things. I can truly say that I am a stronger person mentally and I know that I will still have to face many challenges. Life can be hard at times yes, but we must not forget the good times also. Think of bad times as experience and a lesson learned. The good times are great memories. This is only my second time that I blog and I only now realise that I have not even introduced myself. My name is Wasiela Hendricks. I Have a very positive outlook on life. I like to encourage people to empower themselves that is why I love this class here at RLabs. I really think they should get a medal for empowering the community, not just here but over the world. To come back to my subject Life. I find life very inte

School Holidays

Image
Hi I'm back again this week with more stories to tell. So this week "School Holidays" officially started you can just imagine having 3 kids to entertain. Movies somehow just holds their attention for so long, board games are taboo and the usual kid games like hide n seek is as they say "boring". My 12 year old daughter preferred being with her friends, my 6 an 8 year old boys were glued to computer games. But just I thought I could have some peace there they were with the dreaded words " Mommy what must I do I'm bored". Needless to say being the superwoman I am the solution to this question ( that always works for me ) is to get up fix them a feast cause once their tummies are filled they magically go back to what they were doing. And I have peace for the next 30 minutes until......... You get the point thankfully its the last week of holidays before the morning drill of "Mom I don't have socks". Until next time "Hap

ME AND MY KIDS

Michelle, i am 39, divorced; I live in Athlone   Cape Town.I have 4 children aged 20,17,12 and 8.My eldest one is turning 21 in august so i have a huge task before me planning his 21st.Hope there is someone out there who will give me some tips. Its been hard raising my kids, but i was never alone,my mom and family was and still is a great support for me,but most of all i have God on my side. With him everything and anything is possible.

Me, my daughter and gratitude

The past couple of weeks have been so hectic. Applying at the different high schools is frustrating and exhausting, but I don't want to complain because my daughter really deserve the best. She has never given me any trouble with her school work. She is a positive, energetic child with big dreams. Last night while she was drying my hair she said something that I didn't take note of. She said "Mommy, I must congratulate you. You haven't lost your cool for two weeks now". I don't know if I should feel good or bad about it. It's amazing how what seems small to us is actually something big to our loved ones. I didn't notice that I'm so much calmer and the effect it has on my family. It's true what they say that a mother is the heart of the home and that our emotions does affect the energies/vibrations in our homes. The past two weeks I wake up in the morning and go to sleep at night counting all my blessings. I have released alot of negative feelin

madressa

In the time gone by I went on early retirement and working from home. That time my family all were in the clothing business. I helped out where I could and actually learned a lot about the business. I did machining and when the garment is finished and ironed I would then mark the button holes on the garment. I would then sit in front of the machine and was taught how to make the button holes. Another item that I have learned. It was very exciting as I then tried to sew easy garments for myself like a skirt as it has all straight seams. Sometime later I tried to sew a blouse and gave up on it till recently. I can now sew the blouse but I still have to learn how to do the cuffs. but nevertheless I do the sleeves plain. I am very proud of my achievement. I then have a few nieces who attended Madressa in the afternoon except for one who were a little younger than the rest of them. She said that she also wanted to learn the madressa and that is how I got started. I bought her

EDINBURGH ARTS FESTIVAL TOILET EXPERIENCE

(Part One) Visiting my niece in Edinburgh in 2010 to experience a bit of art and culture at it's annual festival was definitely a chance to explore and get a taste for this event that thousands trek to every year,a hotspot for tourists and artists alike and so a great place to be,to enjoy the atmosphere and all this type of gathering has to offer. ****One of the considerations that has become a priority with being a mature woman when travelling is the availability of toilets, something that has never been a concern South Africa. A proud and patriotic citizen of this beautiful it's the first comparison I 'd make after my experience in other contries-South Africa seen as a third world yet offers it's visitors an excellent choice of well-stocked and clean toilet facilities...London for example a first world country they say but when it comes to toilet faci

A visitor of note

Image
There is an excitement in the air - our daughter and sister is coming home for the holidays!  Then suddenly a moment of anxiety... She's bringing a guest along and we have to prepare our hearts, minds, eyes, ears and most importan for this visitor. The immediate question would be what the eyes and ears have to do with this visitor cause its not about the outer appearance or what comes out of her mouth... Well, this visitor is someone very special.  Like my daughter she is hearing impaired - however, the difference between them is that Kaye-Lynne my daughter can speak as she wears a cochlear implant (more on this at another time) and this girl - Rachel only signs to communicate her needs, pleasures, discontent, etc. At last they arrive and I'm over the moon greeting my (now all grown up girl) with a long hug and kiss and then I face this young lady that I will need to communicate with in sign. It is obviously a very nerve-wrecking moment for me, but for these girls my nerv

Words

Image
I thought that i am a person  with  a lot of words  but i don't know what to say . I don't like to talk about myself and was surprised last week . I  can talk too much about other  topics. Words have power I was told that people that talk too much  is nervous but i don't think so . I just think that when a person have a lot on there minds they just like to speak about it.

My life

Image
I am a female with two children and grandchildren who i s really adorable. The one is studying to become an IT bomber as it was his dream from the beginning but I hope that he will one day if his studies is complete, that he will find a job as in this new generation that we in, work is hard to find. I am the parent who reared them, feed them and clothed them from birth and today I am a proud parent and single, divorced parent that can be glad that GOD was with me all the years and who seen me through difficult times. If I start writing, I never get to the end but life I found out is a two way and not depends on one person to make decisions and that is where things get complicated if your partner thinks that the world only is what he say is correct and your opinion doesn't count. Also if a woman get abused, why be in such a relationship as you don't deserve being treated like that, because you do have a choice if being abused it's either as it says abuse.being used or be

scary eleven

Hi back again on this lovely Saturday morning.did not have any caffeine yet so the brain is a little blocked.Had a wonderful week.my eldest son is ten still for only another day.On the 1 of April the so called Aprils fools day he will be getting older. He gets to nag me for a phone that i would have bought him if he did not already get one last year . I get so a wonderful feeling just to know how the almighty has just blessed me so far to see him age to eleven. He is getting to be a teenager sooner than i anticipated.I think it will be more scary for me as for him . I just get a flashback of my rebellion years and i just freak to think what things i put my parents thru. I just love doing this I can get used to blogging. .

My Loving Daughter Robyn-Lynn

Image
My daughter will be 39 years old on the 13th April 2012. She is a very kind and caring daughter who lives in Scotland  She went to her friend's wedding in New Delhi India which lasted a whole week. Everyday they had a different ceremony which was very interesting and educational. She sent me this picture of her in one of the outfits they had made for her when she arrived there.

blessings

today i feel so very blessed and overwhelmed for the gifts bestowed on us, on Friday 30th,my husband got confirmation for a job, this after 3years intermittent employment, and Monday 26th i got confirmation of my project registration so my certificate is in the post and i should have it in hand in two weeks from now. I am so singing on top of my voice.

Memories

Image
I've never really liked talking about myself - I absolutely love talking about my husband, my kids and everything and everyone that is attached to me - but the me is quite difficult to be explained, so here goes - I am Kathy Goddard trying to introduce myself to you... Somebody once said that I have a lot of clutter (I felt embarrassed at that moment - but then thankfully he continued) not clutter like in no order - just a lot of memories that can be taken out at random and be remembered quite specifically. Obviously since then I actually noted with much amazement that he was right - (this was during a prophecy so of course it should have been so). I can dredge up something from the past s if it happened yesterday - but don't be fooled - I am more forgetful than most - I can forget what I wanted to say in the middle of saying it! Memories are amazing trips throughout your life that can bring a smile to your heart and your face, at times a tear to your eyes and a ting

Power

Power a strong word. I want to ask is it good or is it bad? To me power can be good and bad. It depends on how you use it. So power is not a bad word. People misuse their power and then you dislike them. Use                   your power to help people make the world a better place. Life is already full of hardships and everyone needs a helping hand sometime. My favorite quote is no man is an island. So I am all for empowering of people. Not just women, but everyone. I went through hard times, but thanks to my family and friends I am the person that I am today. I believe that God put us through these trails to make us better. As I am sitting here I am Smiling I feel very good. I know that I still face many challenges in life. I feel confidant that I will be able to face it with all my family and friends.

Generations Part One

For this family  the year 1944 is very special. There  was a birth and a death. Daphne Christina was born and Christina Diana had passed on.This story is the celebration of four lives connected. Part One In 1820 a ship docked in Table Bay harbour in Cape Town.on this ship there were slaves brought over from Java and Malaysia. On the many months on the sea many were ill, many died and those who survived were sold as slaves who went to work on the farms and in and around Cape Town. One of them found herself in service on a farm of the Sampson farm  on the West Coast of the Cape. After a few years a baby girl was born to her and just a year or two before that the farmer's wife had a son. These two played together all their young lives and the low and behold they fell in love. The trouble started! They had to escape. The two travelled all the way to Paarl where totally in love, they married and stated a family. In 1860 a baby girl was born. They named her Christina Diana

Remarkable Women

I have recently joined a social media group @ RLabs called Geeky Moms 5.0.(Here I am to learn e-mail,facebook,blogging & twitter.) Upon registration I met 3 wonderful ladies via a mutual friend, who I am proud to call friends .We 4 have formed a lift club so we each take turns in picking each other up on Sat.mornings.We have a roaring time in the vehicle on the way there & back! The class has +- 30 ladies in it.Every week we each get a turn to greet each other & to talk a little about ourselves. It is during these sessions that one realises the basic features of all women: compassion, strength, versatility, empathy ,etc,.etc. Needless to say I am proud to belong to the FEMALE gender.

Gratitude and real wealth

Last Saturday as I walked home from my session at Rlabs, I realised just how much I have to be GRATEFUL for. To be able to see my family. My beating heart in my body filled with love. My womb that produced two beautiful children and so much more. I feel so privileged, wealthy and honored. I am blessed with so much. I have so many wonderful treasures. My life has changed since last Saturday. Life is so much better. Not perfect, but better and better is good. I've forgiven someone that does not have much respect for me. But forgiving her has nothing to do with her. It's about me. Being angry makes me miserable and tired. It weighed me down, but not anymore. I feel relieved, fresh and on top of the world. My baby is 10 months old today and the older he gets the more he looks like his daddy. He even have his daddy's pot belly. 10months ago he was delivered via c-section. Was'nt easy, but was surely worth it. For the 1st couple of months I could'nt look at the scar bec

journey through the years

On Monday morning I was sitting in the waiting room in Silvertown clinic and hearing a conversation between a few mothers and a grandmother about how children can break your heart  They were talking about the joy of parenthood how the first day you see your child for the first time and how that child overwhelms you. The pre school years the journey of seeing the child first step, first word, first time going to school  and how that was a breeze comparing to the time of high school ,when peer pressure gets to much and  they start to change especially when there is an absent father .their attitudes change, they start coming in late and they start doing drugs as the grandmother confesses her grandchild is doing. I was listening to them and in my view the only solution we as pare

Tibbie

This is a funny thing that I accidentally did to my son. He likes Hamburgers. This one day he wanted me to make one for him with fried eggs cheese and  sausage and all the different sauces. I then thought I will do this for him. My daughter, his girlfriend and my son, Tibbie, were sitting at the kitchen table while I was busy with his hamburger. However my daughter had gone away for the weekend, she never unpacked her bags so of course I unpacked her bags. She had a small container with a brownish liquid in it. I then put in the refrigerator for when I cooked next. I then put the pan on the stove and took the container with the oil out of the fridge and put it in the pan. I then switched the stove on and waited for the pan to heat up. I fried 2 eggs and covered it with a lid to prevent the oil from splashing, after 2 minutes I took the lid off the pan and saw that the eggs were steaming and not frying, I thought maybe some water had got into the oil. I then put all the ingredients o

Give us Bread not a Brick

Image
My first attempt at baking a bread was one that I will never forget. I decided I'd bake a bread no ordinary plain white bread but would attempt a health loaf seeded and grained. I followed the recipe to the tee and happily put the dough into the baking pan.As the oven timer went I made my way across to the hot oven A group of family members had gathered round to catch a glimpse of Aunty Sandy's first bread. I was happy with the result with smiles and expectant looks all round from the family. With a feeling of pride I removed the bread from the baking tin and onto the cooling rack. Success I thought it looked amazing and smelt great, a bit small but hey since when did size matter when the quality was evident so I thought. This was going to be a great bread. The loaf had cooled and finally the "Taste Test" With a sharp knife in hand I went for the first cut. Well the bread did not move it was as hard as a brick. Everyone around burst out laughing saying give

The U 3 A Class

Image
Today a group called the U3A learned how to search find a picture on Google search and insert it into their blogs here on Blog spot. They seem to enjoy the class and are blogging away, the ladies and the one gentleman has been with Rlabs for the past 4 weeks. I hope that when they leave here today that they can impart what was given to them into their communities. The oldest person in the class is 82 and the youngest is 47, they have an energy that I think they can give to the youth of our time as they are always willing to learn new things.
