Geeky Moms

The experience that I gained by being part of the Geeky Moms sessions is so amazing, I really had no clue or idea if what Geeky Moms is until I decided no man just try this new thing that you do'nt understand  if what is thing about. On the first day oh it was fun and interesting too wow the facilitators  are so good at it each and every time you are in the class you feel like doing it for more extra hours. I now even know things like how to google information without logging out of your email something that I did not know.

This is the first time that I have done a course at RLabs, though I have known about the organisation for a while. I find the facilitators to be good, helpful and caring. They are ready to assist us and also at times leave us to our own devices. Though the participants are at different levels, we are accommodated. I also like the course content and most of what we covered was new to me. I am grateful and thank Suzanne, Mareldia, Deneel and Shasha Lee Wishing RLabs well !

Hey my name is Emma I am the RLabs student in Geeky Moms. The journey for me here was quite especial because I never had the chance to learn about writing a blog or to be introduced to Women struggles. What we do here in RLabs we learn more things such as digital this  and google things . I have learn more about loving  myself. Being here in Geeky Moms changed my life in different ways even my mom always you are growing in a good path of life you are no longer everywhere in the streets like a child that don't have a home. I can write a whole page about my life in Geeky Mom's blog or my own blog that I will do cause there's so much to share to women out there even if I am the youngest I can share a lot of experience that I've experience here in Geeky Mom's or in my blog. It very nice to be here I am able to get a chance to get to create my own blog and learn how to write it by the help of Suzanne and the Geeky Mom's help.

My name is khanyiswa Ngoxoza. Live in Samora machell i talk a lot ,Iam very fun and serious sometimes. My experience at geeky moms is very fun and i again knowledge about somethings didn't know .I heard about Rlabs from a friend and then i came here at rlabs to register.I saw this geeky moms i asked about an i was so interested .Now that im here it brings back my confidance as a women ,i love it. 

Being independent at such age its amazing and sometimes hard. I started working after my matric of which i didnt go to any tertiary so i dont have any experience of attending classes and stuff so from now on am using any chance i t have to gain something new in my life like studying n having more experience.meeting new nice people in my life helped me ''Yonela Khohlongo". who introduced me to Rlabs academy now am gaining something new especially attending Geeky moms and am looking forward to learn more about it. The experience that I received at Geeky Moms session is very helpful and interesting, I gained a lot of  things that I was not aware of or know like how to go to google and search for other stuffs while you still not logged out while still on your gmail account or without logging out first. My name is Ziyanda Mbangi ,just an ordinary girl from Philipi seeking knowledge. I started at Rlabs geeky moms with little to no knowledge of the world we now know as google. Yes I knew the basics because I have had a gmail account for at least 5 years but I never really took the time to explore. The journey at geeky moms has been nothing short of amazing with an amazing team of facilitators. They always say a women turns a house into a home and a group of strangers into a family and that is exactly what i have found here at rlabs. I have learned so much here and not just from the facilitators but from the group as well. One goes through life thinking they know how things are and then you come into the geeky moms space and this place just broadens your horizon. From having just an email account were I send and receive emails to discovering a whole lot more about what having a google account can actually do for one. This has been an awesome journey and I really look forward to learn...

And so I write this marrying something I love with something I'm scared of. Words and people I love. That isnt so hard. What you see is mostly what you get. But tech...Yaw. Thats something I'm still hopelessly scared of. Until Rlabs... In a few weeks I've moving my feelings meter and gauging the technoworld with a bigger heart. My first visit to Phillipi was a gift of Location, location, lokayshini... On my first day, my precious sister husband passed away the early hours of the morning. I arrived full and flustered but forced myself to come in to focus for both my Sister and I. As I arrived, and explained, my heart melted with the depth of understanding of the human experience. My facilitator Suzanne and Christine held my hands in a circle that held, comforted and reassured me. Feeling awesome,blessed and grateful again this beautiful morning that the Lord has graced me with.At the beginning of the year i had no plans for myself but Lord place someone on my way that introduce me to the awesome Rlads family that truly believing in making Hope contagious.At Rlabs I really started to realize how to empower and up-skill myself..Threw Rlabs and Rlabs academy I  was introduce to various empowering classes. I'm an Ambassador for the Sanlam Blue Ladder academy  being a social entrepreneur facilitator and from the academy i did a few courses namely Photography, Events management,Project management, Health and Safety and Geeky Moms.Each course had an awesome experience, but Geeky Moms was more than an amazing experience.Geeky Moms wasn't just about learning about the digital platforms but we as ladies could share our own life experiences.This made us grow more stronger and respecting each other.I will truly embrace every session i had with all this beautiful l...

I got to know about RLabs  through my children doing the IT course and Growing Leadership Academy course.I was very inspired and interested in what other courses they were offering.I applied for Geeky Moms course learning about emails,blogging and social media  networks.It has being a great learning experience and I have enjoyed every minute of it.Also getting to know the helpful and friendly staff of Rlabs  and the rest of the lovely ladies joining the class as well.I have also started another course Introduction to computers and enjoying learning new thing all the time.I am greatful  for the experience RLabs.

For the past 5 weeks I had attended the RLabs Geeky Moms class. It was a wonderful decision I had made because I realised that if one does not use what one has learned then it is very easy to forget the lessons Besides the lessons  I had met some amazing people. Each of us unique in our own way. Checking in every morning is very therapeutic. Being able to relate to each other's feelings and stories. Sharing and empathising with each other. So often after sadness or hurts shared comes lightness and motivation. Encouragement to know that life goes on. Troubles shared are troubles halved. Then there were the happy moments. Lots of laughter shared as well. Shy people who actually did a jig or two in front of the class. Very amazing changes. Amongst the lessons we learnt were signing in to the Internet,Gmail, Google Docs, Translate,You Tube, Maps, Blogger and so many other sites. Certainly I have learnt s much. I know that I will miss our weekly gatherings. I'm eternally grat...

I got introduced to Rlabs via U3A in Athlone a few months ago and what an amazing class. I started off on the geeky moms program and because it has been years that I have worked on a computer, I discovered that am finding myself and that I have the potential to do better, by improving my skills. The staff is amazing, extremely helpful and have all the patients in the world to assist you on your journey and this is what one needs in life because one starts to doubt yourself and low self esteem sets in.  I have become extremely confident again through the grace of the Almighty and can only wish them well and that they go from strength to strength. I started by sending a email to my son abroad and he was thrilled by his moms attempt.  I must admit I wont mind doing the course over as I have missed out on 2 lessons, I even visited my old birth place in Walmer estate, by going on to google maps, truly amazing.  I am having so much fun and don't want to stop exploring. ...

I have been in the geeky moms class for 6 weeks but it was a good time to be present just being with the ladies comunicating smiling and mentally exercising my brain The facilitators  know a lot about the digital world. i would  encourage anyone looking  for something to do on a saturday to come to rlabs take the apply  opportunity. They need to do this for their progress  with technology. I will apply this knowledge.The computer is really world of information to explore/I am grateful that i could be free on Saturdays.I will miss the class but there is more to learn.
