Geeky Moms

Buyiswa was a homeless young lady residing @Sizamile Aged Home. She was suffering from stroke and was at the day hospital for her appointment. I introduced myself to her and her face brightened up when I speaking to her,exchanged contact numbers before parting our ways. Our relationship was an open book from the beginning. She had a daughter  Siviwe who was a student at CPUT ;her mum had a shack in Houtbay but wasn't interested in her from childhood. She went as far as grade 10 in school and from there she became a domestic worker and while still employed, she became pregnant. Her boyfriend was a soldier of Umkhonto weSizwe  so they were not together for a long time;although his family took care of her & the baby, but she missed him ! Eventually she got married to another guy who abused her verbally &financially, so she ran away. My name is Rene Parker and I am .... years old. I am one of the facilitators of the Geeky Moms class. It has been a pleasure to have been part of this for the past 10 years. Each year it gets more and more interesting and over the years while meeting all the women and being part of their journeys, it has been somewhat magical. My highlight of the Geeky Moms class is learning to know all the new ladies (or girls like we call ourselves). We have fun every week and we are learning some interesting things even though it feels like we are just having some girl time. For the first week we introduced the ladies to RLabs Geeky Moms by having some pampering time and signing up to Gmail. For the rest of the weeks we continued with all Google Apps (videos, images, maps, etc). We are getting to the last week of Geeky Moms and we are still having lots of fun. It is hard to think about only 3 things that others say about me as I think they can say many things. So let me choose only 3 for now...

Being married for 6 years and couldn't fall pregnant  I had 2 miscarriages in and out of hospital for tests I was on fertility drugs but to no avail being desperate i attended a healing service one Sunday evening during the service the pastor asked what would you like GOD to do for you i basically ran to the front I was prayed for and was told in exactly a years time you will have a baby and it was just so 1984 Sharlene 1986 Roshney 1990 Caleb that's my miracles absolutely.

My name is Safiyyah Seegers Ebrahim i am just an ordinary person just like any other i am a housewife sorry meant to say Home Executive and the queen of our domain,i was born in District Six,was 4years  old when we were evicted and banished to go live in Bonteheuwel...never the less i grew up there got married to my wonderful husband @ the age of 24years in December the 30 we will be married 33yrs God willing i also have a wonderful son who incidentally is also studying @Rlabs and has more certificates than me...what a proud mom i am really,also forgot to say i call my husband Magyver...why, he can do just about anything you guys and a very hard worker and good provider too,and the reason why i joined Rlabs is to help my husband get his business off the ground and meet some wonderfull people like y'all...what i can tell you the experience so far has been so awesome and fantastic the feeling of empowering yourself is unexplained...so happy i could tell you my story, hope we meet up ...

My name is Alice Meyer and I live in Bridgetown. My highlight of the Geeky Moms class was on the first day.The warm welcome we received and the treat of having a manicure.The atmosphere among the ladies was so warm and positive and that made me realize that I made the right decision in joining this class.Just very sad to think that next week is our last class,but I've  met really wonderful ladies and its made me realize that we all going through our own personal struggles and situations. My highlight of the Geeky Moms class is the Enthusiasm and Interaction we as Woman of Strength have with each other,the emotions and stories that we can share and relate to with one another.It is a joy for me to be here every Saturday learning new ways of using social media and just to be among such beautiful souls. My name is Bonnie Davids and i am 41 years old.I have always had the tendency to isolate myself.Thinking that the world is my oyster and not knowing how many good people there is out there. I have come to realize that being quiet,serious and to independent is not doing me any good.I came up with an idea to challenge myself and its working.I am embracing life on a level that i never knew exited.The feeling is so amazing.I am in awe every single second that God is sparing me.My journey this far has had it's lows and highs but it's really worth it. Hi my name is Esmerelda. I live in a small town called Grabouw. Grabouw have a lot of  farms where they plant apples and pears.Most of people living there works on the farms picking fruits. I live in small goverment house with my boyfriend and our 3 children. There is lots of crime where we lived.He work as butcher at a  local butchery.I am a stay at home mom.

My name is Yasnina I joined  Rlabs to learn and have fun which is  exactly what is happening. I was diagnosed with diabetes 20 years ago. I did not allow this to destroy my life, i simply changed my life style. Two years ago I started a small business named Mangosteen juice. I was motivated to start this healthy drink business because it served to improve my condition. After 20 years I look at Diabetes in a completely different light, I can fight it, I have fought it, Thanks to the Almighty.

My name is Wiesaal Booley-Jefferies. RLabs is such an AMAZING place.!!! If feel that many people look at me with disbelief...how can such a place exist...???!!! I call RLabs....an Oasis in Bridgetown. I drove into RLabs by accident..I was looking for Eros School which is further up the road. I had seen the word "RLabs" in the Peoples Post, our community newspaper. I never knew about the Wonderful work RLabs and everyone that works there does.  I was'nt able to sign-up for the 1st semester, but when August month arrived I came to sign-up for the Basic Computer course that was already fully booked. That however was "a blessing in disguise". I met Suzanne..a facilitator, and she assisted me with choosing an ideal course for myself. Geeky Moms was the perfect course for me to do. I love and enjoy the class!!! My Saturday mornings are so inspiring and fulfilling.

I am a first time leaner at the Geeky moms class and i found it very interesting.The ladies are very friendly and there are unity among them and that makes me feel to be here for the class i must admit that i still have a lot to learn and there is so much to learn. My highlight of Geeky Moms class is to learn more of the computer and the phone.

My name is Koelsoem Colbie and a 48 yrs old young lady, full of love and excitement. I'm a granny of two beautiful grandsons and 3 daughters and married for 28 years. Life has been great with its ups and downs, which we don't complain about. A husband full of energy and work as a technician. I'm an entrepreneur, and love what I'm doing. I'm now a Geeky mom, the best ever class I attended. Met some pretty ladies, and wont change them for the world. The sharing was always important. The crying and laughter made us whole. My name is Amina. I'm doing geeky moms for the second time. I loved the class and decided the do the class again. In our 1st week we had a bit of pampering. All the ladies were treated to a manicure and felt very special. And we did an interview with a friend to get to know about one another nicknames, hobbies and family memories. Then we all created email accounts. The 2nd and 3rd week was very interesting from the check in to classes we did. And today is our 4th week at class and we doing blogging and also adding pictures to the blog. It was lovely meeting so many lovely ladies from all different communities. My name Charlene Muller age 50, was born in CAPE TOWN and been living there all my life.Myself and my daughter started going to a GEEKY MOMS class and im not sorry for taking that step. Here you can be yourself and exsperience alot,We learn on how to use the computer sighn up your own google account and what I like most if you come late you must dance and oh boy don't I just love to be here.

Dear Reader I am a woman, striving to find balance in life,  striving to get to the place and statement of mind of peace. So when life is hard and the challenges seems insurmountable, look around you? What do you see?  The beautiful sunshine, feel the breeze blowing and look up at the birds chirping in the trees. Being a mother of 2 children under 5 can be a challenge, then add in the full time employment in the corporate sector when you are expected to deliver every day and never have a day where you are not sparkling and delivering.  Combine that with the other life situations like extended family issues, school issues,  health issues and so the list goes on.  The expectations pile up and becomes enormous.  Where do you draw from to remain hopeful?  Where do you go to escape the madness that can so easily steal your peace?
